Media. Entertainment. Technology.
You’ve been sensing it for a while: The result of the once distinct fields of media, entertainment and technology are converging and becoming something far greater than the sum of their parts. That’s The M.E.T. Effect℠ — and it’s redesigning the very nature of how we live, work and play.
This cultural phenomenon is fueled by internet connectivity and integrated systems, opening up limitless opportunities. Behavior and business have merged to redefine workflows and revenue streams. Corporate alliances are forming and development teams are working vigorously to fill consumer demand for more digital content and immersive experiences. NAB Show® is where global visionaries convene and where this phenomenon comes to life.
The entire digital ecosystem attends the show, including Broadcast, Digital Media, Film, Entertainment, Telecom, Post-Production, Academia, Mobile, Houses of Worship, Advertising, Military, Government, Retail, Security, Sports, Live Events, Online Video, IT, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and so many more.
Dale's team of attendees this year included Broadcast Sales Director Mike Descoteau, Technology Development Manager Joel Guilbert, Senior Broadcast Director of Sales Joe Prout, and Director of Marketing/Brand Development Eric Eldredge.
Joel shared his thoughts on the show overall: "NAB 2017 had a positive feeling in the air. IP technologies have evolved to be workable solutions, and the ratification of SMPTE2110 IP audio and video standard has people moving forward with new projects fully utilizing IP. The now completed spectrum auction gave a newfound immediacy to reorganizing and replacing aging wireless systems - and manufacturers were eager to show their new solutions. ATSC 3.0 is no longer a faint light at the end of the tunnel, and Dolby's Atmos multi-channel object based home and VR solutions had many excited."
