Kali Audio's IN-5 is a 3-way studio monitor with an 5-inch woofer and a 4-Inch midrange with a coaxial 1-inch tweeter. The unique architecture of the Midrange and Tweeter eliminates off-axis lobing, giving the IN-5 an incredibly accurate, lifelike stereo image. The strength of the stereo image, combined with the clarity of the speakers overall, make it extremely easy to build a complete, detailed picture of your mix. Every aspect of your mix is presented with clarity and accuracy, allowing you to dial in precisely the sound you want.

The IN-5 features an 5-inch woofer, a 4-inch mid-range driver, and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter. The mid-range driver and the tweeter are coincident, meaning that they share the same acoustic center. You might have heard the terms “coaxial” or “concentric” to describe this arrangement. Those terms are technically correct as well.

Because of the coincident placement of the mid-range and tweeter, and the crossover of the woofer to the mid-range (280 Hz,) the IN-5 is an acoustic point source. This gives it an ideal directivity characteristic for a studio monitor. You will be able to hear a very lifelike stereo image, with details placed clearly and consistently. Off-axis lobing that is unavoidable in a 2-way system is virtually eliminated with the IN58.

Substantial work was done to optimize the mid-range driver not only for its own acoustic performance, but also for its role as the waveguide for the tweeter. The shape is very precise to allow for controlled directivity at mid range to tweeter crossover, ensuring accurate summing both on- and off-axis. Excursion on the midrange is limited to less than 1mm peak to peak, so that the oscillation of the mid-range does not have a negative effect on
the tweeter.

The IN-5 features a Class-D amp with a 12 dB reduction in self noise, an upgraded DSP section, and upgraded transducers for better reliability.

On top of this, the IN-5 incorporates all of the benefits of Kali's Lone Pine series monitors. These include optimized woofers for powerful, clean bass, a front-firing port tube, and our boundary compensation EQs.

The WS-12 Subwoofer is the most powerful studio subwoofer available under $1000. It is made to be used with any near- or mid-field studio monitors, as well as with small portable PA systems in a live setting.

One of the key design specifications for the WS-12 is that it be capable of providing bass management in a 5.1 system where all of the full-range speakers are Kali IN-8s. As such, the WS-12 is powered by a 1000W power amplifier mated to a high-excursion 12-Inch driver.

This much power also makes the WS-12 a capable live subwoofer. Its enclosure is 18mm plywood and it has handles for easy carrying. Kali’s team made sure that it will fit in small passenger cars, so you can take it with you even when you’re calling a ride to get to your gig!

All this power is controlled by a robust, user-friendly DSP section that let you dial in the exact settings you need for your system. Whether you’re using it with a pair of LP-6s, as bass management in a 5.1 system, or on stage with a PA, it’s easy to configure the WS-12 to get exactly what you need.

Using With Kali Audio Monitors
The WS-12 was designed as a companion subwoofer for Kali's LP- and IN-Series Studio monitors.

When used with a pair of Kali monitors, the subwoofer's crossover and gain settings can be configured to precisely match those of the full-range monitors. With these settings dialed in, set the subwoofer between the speakers, and turn all speakers' volume knob either to noon or all the way up. The subwoofer's level will be exactly where it needs to in order to match the full- range speakers.

The WS-12 can be used for bass management in systems as large as 5.1 with any Kali monitors.

Convenient settings allow the use of an external crossover, and the WS-12 can even be configured as a dedicated Low Frequency Effects channel.

Using With Other Monitors
The high power and deep frequency response of the WS-12 make it an excellent choice for any near- or mid-field monitors- not just those made by Kali Audio!

With selectable crossovers every 20 Hz between 40 and 140 Hz, it can be easily matched to any system. Because of the 1000W power amp, it is capable of keeping up with very powerful studio monitors without breaking a sweat.

The WS-12 can be used for bass management in systems as large as 5.1 with nearfield studio monitors, and the WS-12 can even be configured as a dedicated Low Frequency Effects channel.

Using In Live Sound
The WS-12 features easy carrying handles and a rugged 18mm wooden enclosure. It is small enough to fit into most small passenger cars, making it an excellent choice for small, mobile PA systems.

One WS-12 will be sufficient for use with suitcase-style all-in-one PAs like the Yamaha® StagePAS® or Fender® Passport® or linear array all-in-ones like the Bose® L1® or LD Systems® Maui®.

Two WS-12s can be used side by side for use with larger systems. With two subwoofers side by side, total system Max SPL is now 129 dB with frequency extension down to 23 Hz.

Triad-Orbit’s SM-UM1 universal speaker mounting system is designed for both stereo and Dolby Atmos setups where smaller, lighter speakers are preferred. The SM-UM1 has a versatile tilt mechanism, with strong locking teeth and a solid pan knob.

SM-UM1 has a universal face plate designed to fit as many “mountable”, two hole speakers possible. Some four hole speakers will work as well. The face plate is mounted with 4, M6 screws in a square pattern so it can be placed in vertical or horizontal axis. SM-UM1 is not designed to mount horizontally. Turn the face plate for horizontal listening windows.

SM-KP5, KP6, KP8 are designed to be used with Kali “Second Wave” speakers only.
CAUTION: If your IN-5 speaker does not say “Wall/Ceiling Mountable” on the lower left of the amplifier panel, DO NOT install this plate, nor attempt to mount the speaker to a wall or ceiling. If you are unsure of your monitor revision, please contact Kali Audio with your Serial Number for confirmation.

Compatible Mounts:

• SM-WM1 wall/ceiling mount houses the SM-SW1 swivel. The SM-SW1 slides into the SM-WM1 mount and secures by 4 hex screws. This allows the speaker to be attached to the swivel first and then sliding the assembly in the SM-WM1 mounting plate.
• SM-SW1 swivel can accommodate the various speaker mounting plates or can connect directly to speakers that have a dual hole pattern (50mm-80mm). SW-1 has spring pins in 15 degree increments as well as secondary tension locks in both tilt and pan axis.
