Remembering Stanley Lager, Dale's Founder 1922 - 2014

January 31, 2014

Stanley LagerWith great sadness we announce the passing of Stanley Lager, the founder of Dale Pro Audio. Stanley Lager founded Dale Electronics Corporation in 1956, and grew the business over the following decades into the great Pro Audio dealership it is today, Dale Pro Audio.

An industry icon, Stanley was a friend to countless customers, manufacturers, and factory representatives alike. He taught us all so much, and he will be greatly missed.

Stanley Lager NAMM Oral History interview June 13th, 2007

Steven Rosstad Stanley was always true to his words and was a warm compassionate human being and it was an Honor to know him. He also raised two bright honest children who will carry on his legacy. I was one of his old school relationships and have always appreciated his trust. "Old School," always offered opportunity to those who looked him in the eye and shook his hand. He will be missed! RIP

Chris Tso It was such a priviledge working with Stanley, hearing his stories, and watching a master negotiator in action every day. He's a legend and will always live on in my heart.

Doug Corbett Stan, I was your UPS man for a couple of years, but always looked for you when I came to bust your chops. I liked talking with you about "when you started the company " and always respected you. You were from the "old school" - rest easy my friend.

Sarah Orum I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to know and work with Stanley. Remember the days of our long conversations on the phone when he was in the office and when he wintered in Florida. He was a legend and will be missed by many.

Edwin Hurwitz Sorry to hear about Stanley's passing. As a customer, it's clear that he imbued his company with integrity and commitment to the audio world. Condolences to the family and the company.

John Bolstetter Stanley was one of the best human beings I have ever known. Great businessman, beautiful sense of humor, and honorable. His handshake was all that was needed. He always did what he said he would do and he was always there to help. God bless you, Stanley. I will never forget you.

Ed Fitzgerald, Clear-Com Communications Systems Our relationship with Stan Lager and Dale go back to when Audio was made of Wood --- seasoned wood at that! Stan was the consummate negotiator—never one to miss an opportunity but Stan always left you with a smile on your heart; if no shirt on your back! Knowing Stan Lager was to know respect, fairness, wisdom, and a good dose of humor with just enough chutzpah to never forget the encounter. This industry is richer for having known him.

Pat Hamp I will always remember my first encounter with Stan, he beat me up pretty bad but eventually we came to a mutually agreeable dente'. I will always remember him as tough negotiator but a fair one. He was an honorable and honest man with the highest of ethics and respect for his customers, employees and vendors. I will miss him.

Paul Ackle So sorry to hear of Stanley's passing. He was a pioneer in the industry. I still remember him saying to me that companies will come and go but it's the people that matter and I never forgot that. I spent many days sitting with him in his office and always enjoyed our time together. My condolences to his family.

Ray Maxwell RIP Stanley Lager - you were truly a one-of-a-kind. You always remembered the birth of my son, when I sent the fax of his footprints. I loved sitting in your office hearing you reminisce about Sachmo when he used to come and buy televisions for Christmas presents with the car waiting outside; Andy Warhol when Dale was on 14th street near the Factory; and Stanley Harman when he worked down the street at Lee Dan. You were a wonderful human being - one that will be missed dearly by many. Condolences to the Lager family and all my friends at Dale.

Marc Lee Shannon I was so fortunate to spend 10 minutes with Stanley several months ago and we laughed and joked and of course… he gave me a hard time. It was an honor and a blessing to have had the privilege of entertaining he and other Lager family members on the A-T trip all those years ago. Stanley… you will be missed...

Tim Brown I feel very lucky to have worked with Stanley over the last 8 years. He built Dale from nothing and turned it into a profitable company that continues to provide opportunities to many people. His deep commitment to the business made a lasting impression on me. His legacy lives on through all of us at Dale, and through the many others whose lives he's touched.

Sean D'Entremont So sorry. I'm just a consumer, but the site and store are excellent. He created something great. I know he'll be missed and pray everyone in his family heals quickly and remembers the great times had with Mr. Lager.
