888-462-7828After all the experience we've gained in helping our clientele with some of their most expansive and unique jobs, we've come to appreciate flexibility. And the PRODIGY family of modular interfaces from DirectOut Technoloiges delivers all of the flexibility and power you could ever need and more.
What is PRODIGY?
Whatever you want it to be. A high-grade analog-to-digital converter for a recording rig. A multi-function network audio nerve center. A high-channel digital audio processor for on-air broadcast. An immersive playout unit for a Dolby Atmos setup. The list can go on.
Modular cards install in the rear of the unit, offering various types of analog and digital I/O, combined with network cards for popular audio network protocols: Dante, AES67, Ravenna, AVB, Milan, and SoundGrid.
PRODIGY comes in three main chassis variants: PRODIGY.MP ("multichannel processor") with DSP and advanced software capability across over 400 inputs and oututs at max. PRODIGY.MC ("multichannel converter") focuses more on analog and digital conversion with just over 300 in/300 out capacity. Lastly, for those only needing digital audio and networking, there's the PRODIGY.MX.
How does PRODIGY work?
The real power of PRODIGY is in the software. Once you've loaded up your unit with the I/O you need, browse from a selection of onboard software to control and process your audio. The unit is managed via the Globcon software application (a free download from their website), giving you one central place to manage and install licenses, configure the unit's DSP and routing, and monitor your audio.
Options include summing, monitoring, control from protocols such as Ember+ or direct from a Lawo console, automatic mixing, sample rate conversion, and more. Even better: DirectOut is constantly developing new software tools for these units, so you're just a download away from being ready for tomorrow's challenges.
This version gives you high amount of channels in terms of connectivity and processing. When fully loaded, it can handle up to 416 inputs and 420 outputs, all fully routable and summable as you need. You can install a total of two A slots, two B slots and four C slots for cards. Available software options include Channel based routing, LTC reader, Clock Redundancy, MADI Redundancy, Groups, Mirror Mode, EARS, Input Managers, and FastSRC.
This variant has less DSP capability than the MP, focusing more on being a straight-up audio converter and interface. PRODIGY.MC features one A slot, two B slots and eight C slots, and the channel capacity sums up to 320 inputs and 324 outputs which are managed with a channel-based routing matrix. Software options include channel based routing, LTC reader, Clock Redundancy, MADI Redundancy, Groups, Mirror Mode, EARS, Input Managers, FastSRC, and Summing Busses.
Do you only need to stay in the digital domain? Routing and summing MADI to/from Ravenna or Dante? PRODIGY.MX is a purely digital chassis, ideal for situations where analog audio is not needed (such as broadcast environments). It sports an astounding 1664 input x 1668 output max capacity, with six A slots and two B slots. Software options include channel based routing, LTC reader, Clock Redundancy, MADI Redundancy, Groups, Mirror Mode, EARS, Input Managers, and FastSRC.
What are A, B, and C Slots? What options are available?
Here is a comprehensive list of the available I/O option cards for the PRODIGY. "A" slots feature either a digital or network audio format, with optional sample rate conversion (SRC). "B" slots are for MADI connections in either fiber, BNC, or SFP format. "C" slots are for DB25 connections over either analog or AES/EBU format. Remember that the analog "C" slot cards are not compatible with the MX.

New! Dual Network Cards
Now, DirectOut is also improving the PRODIGY's capability with dual network cards. These new additions to the modules range enhance the flexibility and interoperability of the host device, offering expanded audio network and sample rate conversion options, fitting into the audio network slot (Slot A).
Users can either double the channel capacity of a DANTE.SRC.IO or interface with two different audio network protocols, providing a versatile and cost-efficient solution. The DANTE.DANTE.SRC.IO module offers two interfaces with 64 channels each and individual SRC for each Dante network.
There are currently seven available modules in the range of options including the DANTE.MILAN.SRC.IO, DANTE.RAV.SRC.IO and DANTE.SG.SRC.IO. These focus on Dante conversions, enabling fully redundant, effortless conversions between Dante, Ravenna, Milan and SoundGrid network protocols.
PRODIGY too extensive? You may also want to check out its smaller sibling, the MAVEN.A. MAVEN.A is a slimmer and streamlined unit in a 1RU body, with a more compact feature set and I/O complement.
