Every January, the NAMM Show provides audio and music professionals with the chance to bask in the sun of Southern California (and miss huge East Coast snowstorms in the process). Continuing its trend of being one of the industry's foremost audio expos, its halls were filled with the latest and greatest in new products and technologies.
Here are some of the more audio-centric announcements from the show:
- Shure announced the SLX-D+ wireless family. Replacing the SLX-D series, it features an expanded tuning range, digitally-controlled feedback protection, and 256-bit encryption.
- Solid State Logic introduced a new high-channel USB-to-MADI and Dante interface, the UMD192. Its 192-channel I/O (or 128 at 192KHz) makes it an incredibly powerful solution for demanding broadcast and live production use.
- QSC debuted the new CB10 battery-powered loudspeaker, sure to be useful for rental and production companies, musicians, and performers of all types.
- Wisycom introduced their MPR60, a wideband IEM receiver. It can receive anywhere from 470-800 MHz, 940-960 MHz, and 1240-1260 MHz, with audio features such as advanced limiting, a weatherproof 3.5mm jack, and an IFB mode.
- JBL introduces new members of the SRX900 series - a family of powered PA speakers that are ideal for a range of uses: rentals, portable events, venue installs, and more.
- Digital Audio Denmark introduced two new additions to their product line: an ST-2110/AES67 card for the AX series and the DAD Junior controller for any ThunderCore model.
- Yamaha showed a new MGX Series of compact digital mixers. These can serve in a variety of applications where a small, cost-effective solution is needed. They also have some neat features for live streaming, such as HDMI video integration.
- RF Venue's new RF PA Extension System uses their proven UHF savvy to reliably distribute PA system audio without wires - ideal for events outdoors or in other areas where wireless audio is beneficial.
