Product Spotlight: Voyage Audio Spatial Mic

Spatial Mic

Getting Immersive With Voyage Audio's Spatial Mic.

From seemingly out of nowhere, the Voyage Audio Spatial Mic hit the scene a few years ago, and immediately started turning some heads. It brought immersive audio capture to a whole new level, combining simplicity and powerful control. The audio world surely took notice, as it earned a "Best In Show" award from Mix Magazine at the 2024 NAB convention.

Originally offered as a USB-enabled solution for $999, a full Dante/AES67 version then followed for $2999, bringing the Spatial Mic to professional broadcasters. Simply place the mic in your environment, hook up a USB or Ethernet cable (depending on the version), and you're off.

A series of software products are freely available for the microphone. We'll focus on the Dante version:

MicNet Software

The MicNet application allows you to control the Spatial Mic Dante over your network. You can adjust DSP settings, pickup patterns, gain, orientation correction, monitor input levels for clipping, and setting the output formats - all remotely!

Spatial Mic Converter

While not necessary for broadcasters, the Spatial Mic Converter can take your audio and process it in your DAW if desired. It'll support any major plugin format - VST3, Audio Units, and AAX for Pro Tools - and it will transform the incoming signals to production-ready audio. This means deliverables for ambisonics (AmbiX or Fuma), surround (up to Dolby Atmos 7.1.4), or even mono/stereo signals too.

Getting The Show On The Road (Or In The Field)...

Spatial Mic has seen its fair share of applications already, be it in the field, grabbing immersive concert recordings, or capture for VR and AR.

Some of our highest-profile broadcast clients are already reporting back to us that they're using the Spatial Mic to great success for some of the nation's leading sporting events.

NFL Game Placement

One such venture saw it being used to capture crowd sounds and ambience from locker rooms, fan event areas, and the field itself at a nationally televised football game this past season. Another engineer recently used it for similar purposes at a certain "big game" in New Orleans, even going so far as to capture the military jet fly-over from outside the roof during the anthem!

Harness The Power For Yourself.

We've put together a few simple examples of how, with minimal effort, you can have an immersive rig that fits your needs. Reach out to one of our Sales Professionals today to discuss a solution tailored to your application.
