Avid Connect 2019 Recap

April 06, 2019

Creating The Future.

Each April, just in advance of the NAB Show, our valued partners at Avid host their Connect conference in beautiful Las Vegas. The event brings together professionals in various branches of the media industry, such as broadcast, post, graphics and more. This year's edition was held at the luxurious Aria Resort and Casino on the Strip.

Company president and CEO Jeff Rosica kicked things off with a keynote speech, reviewing the company guidelines and strategies. He recapped what the company had done since last year's Connect, and detailed how current corporate mandates are handling future product releases.

Stating that "innovation doesn't help anyone if it's not here now", he let us know that there are several new products on the very near horizon, but won't be disclosed until they're readily available.

Rosica concluded his remarks with a round of thanks for Avid's broad customer base and the Avid Customer Association (ACA) votes for helping to shape the company's current portfolio.

Avid's product manager Dana Ruzicka then took the stage, to announce the new products being released at this week's NAB show.

Stressing again that these developments were largely due to the large amounts of feedback from Avid users worldwide, he gave a detailed presentation of these products, calling upon a few of their product specialists to demonstrate them on-screen:

  • A new and exciting Avid Link app, providing high amounts of connection and networking with the global user community.
  • The availability of the VENUE | S6L-48D console in June, ideal for large venues and theaters needing larger fader counts.
  • A review of the new Pro Tools | MTRX cards released so far this year, including the SPQ speaker card, Dante card, and a DigiLink expansion card. All are ideal for better integration of MTRX into immersive production environments.
  • A new collaboration with Azure for expanded cloud implementation for all products, including Pro Tools.
  • Media Composer 2019, with a whole new look and new feature set, for our video editing clientele.

At the conclusion of the presentation, it was off to a whole series of breakout sessions in the meeting rooms, all geared towards specific markets. There were mixing masterclasses, forums on new technologies and deliverable formats, hands-on courses with the new software products, and so much more.

Many thanks to Avid for their hard work and hospitality this weekend.
