NAB 2025 Recap

April 16, 2025

The Latest Tools To Bring Your Stories To Life.

April at Dale Pro Audio means heading out to sunny Las Vegas for the NAB Show - the preeminent conference and exhibition driving the evolution of broadcast, media and entertainment. Taking up three halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center, it showcases solutions and innovations in broadcast audio, video, delivery, and creation. It drew over 55,000 people from 160 countries around the world, representing some of the top organizations in the industry.

Our team took to the show floor, focusing on which of these innovations best serve our audio clientele.

Key talking points around the halls centered around IP technology, virtualization, a more dynamic consumer experience (especially in sports productions), artificial intelligence, and more. We noted a continued uptick in available solutions for the ST-2110 and Ravenna audio network protocols in mission critical broadcast.

"AI continued its path to use in storytelling, but most of the products we know that use it have for a while and are steadily plugging away with it," noted Dale's Technology Develpoment manager Joel Guilbert. "More adoption of easily compatible with 2110 formats is always a good thing."

Dale's Eric Eldredge met extensively with many of our valued vendor partners throughout the show: "While yes, the ongoing threat of global trade instability shadowed many conversations throughout the show floor, there was still some prevailing optimism that the industry will adapt and weather the storm."

  • TSL is now shipping all variants of their anticipated PAM2-12G broadcast audio monitor. This means next-gen 12G and Dolby compatiblity for your facility or truck control room.
  • CEDAR Audio unveiled a series of well-priced and perfectly-featured plugins called Icons, ideal for broadcast, post production, and mixing.
  • TASCAM is now shipping their ST-2110 card for the SonicView mixers, making them powerhouses for broadcast applications without the huge price tag.
  • Clear-Com showed their new FreeSpeak Icon beltpack - compatible with FreeSpeak Edge, Arcadia, and Eclipse systems.
  • Comrex announced their new FieldLink codec - use it by itself or with an existing ACCESS unit. It allows for sideline reporting at events using their smartphones, complete with IFB.
  • SKB reminded us that sometimes it's the little things that can really make one happy: they showed their first-ever 4U rack cases that can fit into an overhead airline bin! Perfect for flypack building - available in Black or Gray.
  • Tieline turned a lot of heads (including those of Radio World, bestowing a Best In Show award) with the Bridge-IT XTRA. This well-priced codec supports ST-2110, Ravenna, AES67, and even Livewire+ protocols, all in one box.
  • Studio Technologies showcased some cool and handy solutions for networked audio: the Model 5512A ST2110 Interface, Model 5518A ST2110 Interface, Model 794/795 Surround Controller, and even Model 394 / Model 395 Dante to GPIO converters were but a few on display.
