NAB Show Recap

Our Recap of the 2023 NAB Show.

The leading tradeshow and expo for the broadcast, media, post production, and content creation industries, the NAB Show heralded its centennial anniversary this year. Over 65,000 attendees from 66 different countries converged upon the entertainment hotbed of Las Vegas to meet with over 1200 exhibiting companies.

NAB Show Floor

This was a huge increase from last year's Covid-affected edition and reflected an air of industry resurgence and new innovations for the media world of today, and tomorrow. The main topics that recurred throughout the convention halls were two major steps in virtualization: AI and the Cloud. Driven by the needs of Covid-driven at-home productions, we were given a view of the future of broadcasting.

Our team traversed the show halls for the latest and greatest in audio for broadcast and media production.

Some of the interesting and cool things we saw on the show floor:

  • Waves introduced the Cloud MX, a virtual mixer application that utilizes the cloud.
  • Tieline unveiled an innovative new MPX series of codecs.
  • Sound Devices expanded their A20 wireless family with the A20 Nexus receiver supporting up to 16 channels, and the A20 Monarch antenna system.
  • We were excited to see Stagetec at the show and have now added them to our brand list on the strength of the Nexus Compact AoIP interfaces.
  • Telos Alliance impressed us with the fully-virtual, cloud-based, Infinity VIP intercom.
  • Glensound showed off a few new products, including a next-gen Vittoria bridge, now allowing Dante to Ravenna bridging and/or separation.
  • Audio-Technica annouced their BP3600 immersive capture microphone system is now shipping.
  • We were thrilled to see Evertz announce that the Studer Micro Series mixing system was back!
  • Audinate showed a working version of their new Dante Connect audio/video over IP protocol.
  • We got our first in-person look at the Sennheiser EW-DP camera/ENG wireless range.
  • RTW showed two new software modules for the TouchControl - one for immersive monitoring with bass management, and an advanced metering suite.
  • Sony introduced a new model of headphones, the MDR-MV1, geared towards better monitoring for spatial mixes like immersive or binaural.
  • Neumann showed their new MT 48 Audio Interface in person for the first time.
  • NTP Technology showed off the new DAD AX Center - this latest member of their ThunderCore series is a huge boost for immersive audio monitoring and I/O.
