NAB 2024 Recap

The Latest and Greatest in Broadcast Sound.

The primary conference and exhibition driving the evolution of broadcast, media and entertainment, the 2024 NAB Show was upon us. NAB drew over 61,000 people from 163 countries, with the staggering fact that over half of them were first-time attendees.

Amidst three vast halls of over 1300 exhibitors, our team caught some of the latest products and developments in audio for these markets:

  • Clear-Com is now shipping EQUIP wireless intercom for theaters, schools, industry, medical, and more.
  • Clear-Com is now also offering their Gen-IC software intercom platform.
  • Linear Acoustic unveiled their next-generation AERO series DTV processors: the AERO.20, AERO.200, and AERO.2400.
  • Lectrosonics introduced the DSSM, a new bodypack transmitter with an IP57 water rating for extreme conditions.
  • Studio Technologies showed new gear including the Model 201 Interpreters Console, Model 5312 Intercom Panel, and the Model 5682 ST-2110 to Dante network bridge, available in 32-channel or 64-channel editions.
  • Sonifex showed a new, compact AVN-CU1 Dante commentary unit.
  • DPA Microphones showed little things can go a long way with their new AIR1 universal windscreen.
  • Sennheiser unveiled their new MKH 8030 figure-8 compact stereo or M/S microphone.
  • Wohler Technologies introduced their new MAVRIC cloud-based monitoring system.
  • Yellowtec introduced some exciting new additions: the VIP Creator voice processor, the Intellimix Neo mixer, and new M!ka seris options such as desk stands and USB-wired arms.

There was more than just products being shown - between the Sports Video Group's DTV Audio Group meeting (for which we were a co-sponsor), and other meetings with our valued clientele and industry experts, we've begin to see wider adoption of the ST-2110 protocol and and more virtualization of productions. Other hot topics included the ongoing shift to streaming and OTT / direct-to-consumer standards.
